Visual Intelligence represented at Arctic Frontiers 2026

Visual Intelligence was represented by Centre Director Robert Jenssen, Associate Professor Kristoffer Wickstrøm, and VI Alumna Sara Björk at the Arctic Frontiers side session "How can AI and satellite collaboration strengthen Arctic resilience?". The event was co-organized with the British Embassy in Norway and The Alan Turing Institute.

The event gathered AI experts to discuss this eponymous question at Arctic Frontiers.

The British ambassador to Norway, Jan Thompson, gave an opening remark on behalf of the UK Space Minister Liz Lloyd, which was followed by presentations on how to build AI models for satellite data and AI innovation in the Arctic and a panel discussion.

The expert panel drew on case studies to show how such a collaboration can help improve sea-ice prediction to enhancing environmental monitoring and maritime safety, and to discuss practical pathways for linking AI research with the priorities of Arctic operators and policy makers.

  • Victoria Nockles, Principal Investigator of the Defence AI Research Centre at The Alan Turing Institute

The side session was organized by the British Embassy in Norway, SFI Visual Intelligence, and The Alan Turing Institute.
