Tegnander holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Oslo, followed by research positions at SINTEF, NTNU and the University of Oxford.

She later transitioned to the energy sector, where she's held a range of roles spanning operational onshore and offshore work, planning of new developments, and technology development rooted in applied research.

In recent years, Tegnander has been working with digitalisation at Aker BP – which spans everything from data digitalisation and advanced analytics, through deep learning, and more recently, the application of generative AI.

She was appointed to the position in April 2026, where she will serve as the elected leader of Visual Intelligence's board.

"An active and forward-leaning centre"

Tegnander says Visual Intelligence is an active and forward-leaning research centre, and is excited about leading the centre board going forward.

"I am truly honoured to be appointed Chair of the Board for Visual Intelligence. The centre is a frontrunner in research, closely following and shaping the technological development from working with imaging in the first part, converting lately towards multi‑modality," says Tegnander.

"At the same time, the centre is leading the way in cross‑industry collaboration, enabling methodologies to be transferred and applied across diverse application domains", Tegnander adds.

She lauds Visual Intelligence for its strong focus on implementation – working closely with end users to ensure that developed technologies create real impact and lift results to the next level

"The centre clearly demonstrates how close collaboration between academia, research institutes, and industry can make a tangible difference for Norwegian research and industry," says Tegnander.
