This year, our centre transitioned into a new and exciting phase, delivering novel deep learning solutions that are already implemented by and creating value for our industry and public sector partners.

The report highlights the centre's progress, activities and achieved innovations for 2025. It describes new deep learning methods which address pressing societal needs in the fields of medicine and health, marine science, the energy sector, and earth observation.

The methods are built on our deep learning research, which aims to solve fundamental research challenges related limited training data, capturing context and dependencies, estimating confidence and uncertainty, and explainability.

The report also highlights other centre activities, such as PhD defenses, the Northern Lights Deep Learning Conference 2025, the Aker Nscale – UiT partnership agreement, and dissemination in nationwide news media like Norsk rikskringkasting (NRK), forskning.no, VG, and Dagens Næringsliv

We wish to thank all our researchers, user partners, and collaborators for an amazing 2025! Visual Intelligence's journey in developing cutting-edge deep learning solutions continues in 2026!
