Bongo is well-known for his work on Sami AI at the Sámi AI Lab—a collaborative project between Sámi allaskuvla / Sámi University College and UiT which seeks to address fundamental questions and challenges related toSámi AI. During the award ceremony, he was lauded for breaking barriers for indigenous voices in AI and academia.
