Co-director Line Eikvil featured in top list of 50 most influential tech women in Norway

Congratulations to Visual Intelligence (VI) co-director Line Eikvil, whom the Abelia and ODA Network featured as one of the fifty most influential tech women in Norway!

The list includes fifty female researchers, developers and founders within the technology field.

Eikvil is grateful for the acknowledgement from the Abelia and ODA Network.

- It is of course very great. It was also really enjoyable to participate in the award ceremony together with so many dedicated female role models within technology, Eikvil says.

Extensive knowledge and experience with image analysis

In addition to being co-director of VI, Eikvil is Chief Research Scientist at The Norwegian Computing Center (NR) and has extensive knowledge on and experience with research on image analysis and deep learning. She is described by NR as a notable figure within the image analysis field in Norway.

She started working at NR right after handing in her thesis on ICTs within image analysis in 1988, and was at the time the only woman at the NR image analysis group. She has been a part of what she calls a "revolution" which has affected the image analysis field.

- It has been exciting to be a part of the deep learning revolution and experience how it has enabled us to tackle different challenges which we never could have imagined could be solved, Eikvil states.

The Abelia and ODA Network's list aims to increase the number of women working with tech and leadership. Eikvil believes the list is an important way of sheding light on leading female figures within the tech field.

- As these technologies continue to affect our lives, I believe the list can inspire more women to pursue a career within technology and show them that there exists several female role models in the field, Eikvil states.

- A great inspiration

Eikvil and the other fourty-nine listed women were featured based on their knowledge about technology, notable contributions and feats, and their motivation and efforts towards diversity and inclusion within the technology field.
