Call for Papers and Abstracts: Northern Lights Deep Learning Conference 2026

We invite submissions presenting new and original research on all aspects of Deep Learning for the Northern Lights Deep Learning (NLDL) Conference 2026.

By Petter Bjørklund, Communications Advisor at SFI Visual Intelligence

We are accepting two tracks of contributions for NLDL 2026:

  • Full paper submissions (5 to 8 pages fullpaper included in proceedings) will be presented either as orals or as posters and will bepublished in the conference proceedings. The proceedings are approved as a  level 1publication in the Norwegian national list of authorized research publication channels and will appear in PMLR.
  • Extended abstracts (2 pages) will be presented as posters (but notpublished in the conference proceedings). The review process is double-blind.

Deadline for full paper submission: September 01, 2025.

Deadline for extended abstracts: Mid-October 2025 (exact date to be announced).

The topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • General   Deep   Learning   (architectures,   generative   models,   deep   reinforcement learning, etc.)
  • Machine Learning related to deep learning (active learning, clustering, online learning, ranking, reinforcement learning, supervised, semi- and self-supervised learning, time series analysis, etc.)
  • Optimization (convex and non-convex optimization, matrix/tensor methods, stochastic,online, non-smooth, composite, etc.)
  • Methods (Bayesian methods, variational inference, graphical models, etc.)
  • Applications (vision, language, signals, speech and audio, etc.)
  • Deep Learning for Sciences (biology and medicine, environment and ecology, physics, etc.

Instructions about the template and submission can be found on http://www.nldl.org.

About NLDL

The Northern Lights Deep Learning Conference is the northernmost annual science conference in AI and deep learning. The conference gathers researchers from across the globe to exchange ideas, encourage collaborations and present cutting-edge research in the cool arctic air of Tromsø, Norway.

The conference includes a full-fledged program of recent and relevant topics within deep learning, high quality scientific contributions, and side events on diversity and industry in AI. NLDL also hosts high profile international researchers as invited keynote speakers and around 250 researchers each year.

The NLDL 2026 Winter School is a five-day course featuring tutorials by experts in AI and deep learning.

The NLDL Conference 2026 is organized from January 6th - 8th 2026. The NLDL Winter School takes place from January 6th - 9th 2026. The conference and winter school is held at UiT The Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø, Norway.
