A pitch day was organized at UiT for to connect students with companies for external master’s projects and job opportunities in computer science and machine learning.

The second edition of the pitch day took place on the 29th of March 2023. The concept is to offer a communication channel to companies and students for exchanging information on master projects and possibly future jobs. The companies present themselves and pitch master projects to UiT computer science and physics students. The focus was on computer science projects and machine learning. The format was 5 min pitch per company and an open mingling between participants after it, around pizzas.

This was a great opportunity to connect with students having an interest and background in computer science/engineering and machine learning. The companies and public institutions with  AI or ICT projects were connected with motivated students. By offering a master project and recruiting a student for 6 to 12 months the company can strengthen their team, get a new perspective on their projects, transmit their values and possibly find new employees.

The Pitchday gathered more than 40 students at the master level, from the dept. of Computer Science and the dept. of Physics and Technology. 13 companies pitched, among them many local high-tech companies and startups. After the pitches, free discussions and questions went on for more than an hour, showing the great interest of students and companies in such a gathering. The event was organized by the Computer Science department at UiT and SFI Visual Intelligence.

  • Unifractal: on-the-job learning, object recognition and interactive documentation
  • Kreativ Teknologi @ Tvibit: Game development and culture, makers pace, live-streaming and virtual productions
  • ITromsø : Projects linked to the Datasteam at the iTromsø newspaper and the use of artificial intelligence to do research and produce news of high quality.
  • Abdera.ai : The AI moderation tool that quickly identifies and addresses harmful content
  • Capia: Data analysis, automatic maintenance and control from Lidar and point clouds
  • SIFT: Projects related to Smart Aquaculture System
  • Directorate for Higher Education and Skills: Projects and tasks related to Utdanning.no
  • Medsensio: Digital health solution with integrated AI to improve collaboration between the patient and their care providers,and facilitate patient-centered care
  • Pocketcoach:  Youth Sports coach at the touch of a button
