Date: 23rd and 24th September 2025

Location:  Quality Airport Hotel Gardermoen, Conference hotel located close to Gardermoen airport.

Aim of VI Days

Researchers and personnel from all VI partners gather for knowledge-sharing and updates on the latest Visual Intelligence (VI) research and innovations. We have a social program with plenty of opportunities for dialogue, interaction, discussions, networking, and socializing.

Visual Intelligence Graduate School (VIGS) Pre-Program

September 22nd

The pre-program consists of an afternoon gathering for VI's young researchers and graduate students to grow transferable skills, share scientific experiences and getting to know each other across institutions.

The event will take place at the University of Oslo. More details to be announced

  • 09:45 - 10:30 – Introduction to Multimodal Intelligence by Adín Ramírez Rivera
  • 10:30 - 11:00 – Coffee break
  • 11:00 - 13:00 – "Dream Big" Session - Part 1
    • The bigger picture. Part 1: User partner presentations. Followed up in Part II by a panel discussion with VI's research challenge PIs
      1. Perspective on VI-relevant effects and results for partner (approx. 7.5 minutes)
      2. Dream big: Dreams, visions, ideas, wishes for AI to transform or solve in a big way products, organizaations, processes (approx. 7.5 minutes)
  • 13:00 - 14:00 – Lunch
  • 14:00 - 15:00 – "Dream Big" Session - Part 2
    • VI’s research challenge PIs discuss how big dreams may be approached by drawing on experiences from all VIs research challenges that are fundamentally shared across innovation areas and applications, leveraging synergies and avoiding potential pitfalls of knowledge silos.
  • 15:00 - 15:30 – Coffee break
  • 15:30 - 16:30 – VI's research-based innovation highlights I
    • This session showcases ongoing research-based innovation subprojects anddirections with the aim to transfer knowledge and methodology across applications and partners. 6 presentations (8 minutes each)
  • 16:30  16:45 - Coffee break
  • 16:45 - 17:30 – VI's research-based innovation highlights II
    • 4 presentations (8 minutes each)
  • 17:30 - 19:00 – Posters and interaction
    • This session highlights VI-relevant work across the consortium. The intention is to mingle and to learn from each other.

September 24th

  • 08:30 - 09:30 – International perspectives and inspiration for research-based innovation by Georgios Leontidis
    • Prof Georgios Leontidis is the Interdisciplinary Institute Director (AI & Big Data) and a professor of machine learning at the University of Aberdeen. He is a Turing Academic Liaison (The Alan Turing Institute), an Ellis Society member, and a former member of the Scottish AI Alliance leadership group
  • 09:30 - 10:00 – Coffee
  • 10:00 - 12:00 – Collaborative work session with user partners
    • Work sessions centered around individual user partners. Practical info will be given at the opening.
    • Structure
      • Presentations to review status of ongoing/planned activities.
      • Discuss progress, path forward and potential adjustments to the research plan for 2026 and potential directions for the next years
  • 12:00 - 12:30 – Coffee break
  • 12:30 - 13:00 – VIGS "Overview" initative and VIGS updates
  • 13:00 - 14:00 – Lunch
  • 14:00 - 14:45 – Outlook I - Research leaders' perspectives
    • Panel: User partner and research partners' leaders discuss further strengthening of the VI consortium, such as:
      • Emerging areas
      • New joint initiatives across applications

We have reserved a limited amount of hotel rooms. The rooms can be reserved for NOK 1290. The price is for one guest and one night.

You may reserve a room at the venue by August 20th.

The reservation is open for changes until August 20th.
