Visual Intelligence researchers Alba Ordoñez and Anders U. Waldeland presented ongoing work on seismic foundation models and an interactive seismic interpretation engine at EAGE Annual 2025 in Toulouse, France.

EAGE is described as the largest multidisciplinary geoscience event in Europe and one of the longest running geoscience conferences in the world. EAGE Annual attracts around 6,000 visitors from across the globe for a broad programme related to geoscience, energy transition, and digitalization. Ordoñez and Waldeland are Senior Research Scientists at the Norwegian Computing Center.

Their work—developed together with Theodor Johannes Line Forgaard, David Wade and Aina Juell Buge—received extensive attention during the conference. Ordoñez describes the feedback and curiosity from the attendees as rewarding—from technical deep dives to broader discussions on the future of foundation models in Geoscience.
