Gudmundur Jøkulsson, Kongsberg Satellite Services succeeds Anita Schumacher, CEO University Hospital of North Norway as chair of the Visual intelligence Board from 2024.

Change of Chair of the Visual intelligence Board

Anita Schumacher, CEO University Hospital of North Norway, has served as Chair of the Board since the establishment of Visual Intelligence in 2020. After three years of service, it is time to pass on the task. Gudmundur Jøkulsson, Kongsberg Satellite Services has accepted UiT's (the host institution of Visual intelligence) request to to be Chair for the next three year period.

Visual Intelligence has been fortunate to have Anita Schumacher, Director of the University Hospital of North Norway, to Chair the Board of the centre since its start in December 2020. In this period, Schumacher has overseen Visual Intelligence’s research and innovation to develop the next generation deep neural networks to provide new image analysis solutions of importance for the industry and public sector centre partners and for the Norwegian society as a whole.  «It has been thrilling to participate closely in the development of the use of artificial intelligence at its early stage, within healthcare as well as other disciplines. I look forward to see how the collaborative initiative between UiT and several interesting partners, including the University Hospital of North Norway, continues to develop in the years to come. On this area there will be new and exciting projects on a regular basis!» says  Schumacher.

The next phase in Visual Intelligence’s exciting journey will be overseen by Gudmundur Jøkulsson from Kongsberg Satellite Services (KSAT), appointed new Chair of Board. «I am grateful for the opportunity to follow the Visual Intelligence program on the way forward in this exciting research area as the Chair. The program objectives on innovation, and the aim to bring the forefront of deep learning research close to industry and healthcare applications, I am sure will provide both new derived information and insights into image data analysis processes with the partners organizations – as well to create new opportunities for advanced research initiatives and activities in the field of AI.» says Jøkulsson.
