- I deem this as an indication of the high scientific quality we have built within artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning at Visual Intelligence, says Visual Intelligence director Robert Jenssen.

This is what professor and centre director for SFI Visual Intelligence, Robert Jenssen, says. He recently accepted an invitation to join the Scientific Advisory Committee at Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems (MPI-IS).

Collaboration with leading experts

MPI-IS is described as Europe's most prominent research centre within intelligent systems, a research field which encompasses subfields such as AI, machine learning, and similar scientific disciplines. MPI-IS is a part of the Max Planck Society, which is known for its groundbreaking work within fundamental science and advanced research.

Together with leading experts from University of California - Berkeley, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, and Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, among others, Jenssen will give advice on scientific directions concerning MPI-IS. The committee plays an important role in maintaining the high scientific quality at the Max Planck centre.

- MPI-IS' work has significant impact on various academic fields and practical applications of technology. The centre's interdisciplinarity, where fundamental methodological developments and important applications across societal areas go hand in hand, reflects the way we work within Visual Intelligence. I look forward to contributing together with these experts, to learn from the high scientific quality that the MPI-IS represents, and to bring new ideas back to Norwegian AI research, says Jenssen.
