Meet Petter, our new science communicator

His core work tasks involve communicating research activity from Visual Intelligence and UiT Machine Learning Group, as well as being a facilitative resource for science communication. - I am very excited to get acquainted with our researchers and their projects, says Bjørklund.

Meet Petter, our new science communicator

SFI Visual Intelligence (VI) and UiT Machine Learning (ML) group recently hired Petter Bjørklund as a communications advisor in January 2024. He has worked extensively with science communication before arriving in Tromsø, having worked as a science communicator at Helse Møre og Romsdal HF from 2022 to 2023.

Bjørklund has communicated research from a wide range of fields, including orthopaedics, artifical intelligence, biomechatronics, bariatric surgery, substance abuse and psychiatry, oncology, and oral medicine.

His core work tasks will consist of communicating research activity from Visual Intelligence and the ML group, promote said activity via social media and by contacting the news media, and be a facilitative resource for science communication within VI and the ML Group.

- Artificial intelligence is an exciting and important research field which continues to grow each day. I am very excited to start working with communicating research from Visual Intelligence and the Machine Learning group, as well as to get acquainted with our researchers and their projects, says Bjørklund.
